Back-Story:
Winter's always been very caring for a Celestial creature in charge of Keeping Knowledge, which is his predisposed calling. Beyond that he was appointed as a Guardian, given the task of keeping humans safe from the great darkness that lurks in the world he and others of his ilk come from. This is one of the reasons his people relocated, the destruction took over their world forcing them to flee and seal shut the gateways back to their world, Winter and his twin sister Lilia Seraphim watch one such gateway, taking it in shifts so the damn thing is never left unoccupied.
Which leads us to Winter's curse, one night several years prior he'd been on Guardian duty, sitting in front of the gate, which appears to look like a normal Church door, if Church doors glitter with twisted red sigils, reading his book when the sounds of raised voices caught his attention. A couple arguing, but that wasn't what held Winter's attention, no, the sounds of crying drew his attention towards a very young girl....and he was mesmerised....so much so his attention was completely riveted to the crying girl, his first glimpse of true beauty, he failed to notice the gateway activate...until the girl's mother dropped down dead...
As punishment, his Patron Goddess, who by the way is also his mother struck him blind, taking away his ability to view true beauty, enjoy a good book or even live life like a normal person.
That should be the end of the story right there...but fate works in mysterious ways and Winter would find himself drawn back to the young girl, now a teenager Annalie's life was far from perfect, her dad was remarrying and everything she thought she knew was changing, but that wasn't the part that struck Winter in surprise, what surprised him most was he could "semi" see this girl, her aura at least. Drawn into a companionship with her it's only a matter of time before young Annalie falls for the handsome blind stranger, they've had their ups and downs, particularly when Annalie learned that Winter wasn't even Human much less that he was partly to blame for her mothers death....
It should also be noted Winter is not your typical blind man, while he can't see anything save for Annalie's aura, his hearing is off the charts, when he's out in public he doesn't have any of the typical aids blind people have, no canes or guide dogs. Winter lets his ears be his guide, as such loud noises can really confuse and disorient him.
